Its was high altitude balloon flight day for five Winnipeg high schools on Friday April 29th. Garden City, Maples, Fort Richmond, Shaftesbury and St. James Collegiate launched HABs from Carman Collegiate this morning at 11:30 am. In total approximately 60 students and staff gathered at Carman Collegiate for their launch.
Students at these schools have been preparing their science and engineering experiments for the past year as part of the Global Space Balloon Challenge competition. The launch last year was a great success.
All payloads are expected to reach altitudes of over 100,000 feet (32 km) and should land in the Roland area at approximately 1:30 pm.
