Envirothon Competition

On Wednesday, April 20, five teams of 5 students participated in the Regional Envirothon Competition in the beautiful setting of Clearwater, MB.  This outdoor event involved students learning about wildlife, soils, forestry, aquatic ecology, and invasive species from local experts.  In the morning, they learned a variety of outdoor survival skills, such as making traps and snares, building fires, and building shelters.  In the afternoon, teams participated in the Field Test competition, where they completed a number of hands-on challenges.  The sunny weather made for a great day!  Competition results will be announced next week and the Provincial Competition will be held in Pinawa, May 26-28.
