Brian Parker, Carman Collegiate Vice Principal, 1965 - 1994

November 2012
On Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Carman Memorial Hospital, Brian Parker passed away at the age of 76 years.

Mr. Parker started his teaching career at Carman Collegiate in 1963.  Prior to this, he played hockey as an import in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for the Estevan Bruins.

In 1965 he became the vice-principal, and kept that position until his retirement in 1994.  During his 29 year tenure as vice principal, most of those being with Principal Frank McKinnon, Mr. Parker’s support role was instrumental in helping form the Manitoba High School Athletic Association, and the High School Hockey Leagues.   For his dedication to Carman Collegiate, the Junior Varsity Female Athlete of the Year Award was named after Mr. Parker in November 2012.

After retiring, Brian could be found on the golf course, and in the last couple of winters would hall walk the halls of Carman Collegiate.  He will be missed.

Reception and time of visiting will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Carman Golf and Curling Club.  Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St, Wpg, MB, R3L 0K6 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave, Wpg, MB, R3E 0V9.
