Farewell and Thank You

With the closing of the school year, we take this time to say thank you to staff members who will not be returning to us for the upcoming year.  Their dedication to our students over their time here is very much appreciated.

Mrs. Monica Halbesma has been an educational assistant with us for the last several years.  She has accepted a one year position at the division office, and will hopefully rejoin us for the 2017 - 2018 school year.

Ms. Kotelniski, Ms. MacPherson, Mr. Chalaturnyk
Ms. Suzy Kotelniski joined our staff in February teaching grade 7 and 8 French, taking over from Mrs. Rouire who had moved into the VP role.

Ms. Lisa MacPherson started the school year as our half time grade 7 homeroom teacher.  In January she became full time, taking part of Mr. Shindle's teaching duties when he was appointed Principal at Roland Elementary.  Ms. MacPherson coached the JV Girls Volleyball team and the Girls Fastpitch teams.

Mr. Rob Chalaturnyk has been teaching grade 7 with us for the last six years.  He has done a lot of work with our students doing science experiments that have created a sense of wonder and awe.  Mr. C has coached the boys soccer team over the years.

Mr. Garth Shindle started teaching at Carman Collegiate as a student teacher with Gord Johnson and Malcolm Jones.  After a short stint teaching in Altona, Mr. Shindle was hired as the grade 7 teacher (replacing Mr. Johnson) in 2003.  He taught in the grade 7 area for seven years before being hired as the vice principal.  Mr. Shindle was then moved to Roland School in January 2016 as the principal for a one year term, before he was to return back to Carman Collegiate.  Opportunity however knocked, and Mr. Shindle accepted the vice principal role at the Morden Middle School starting September 2016.  Mr. Shindle coached hockey and baseball (and many others) and was instrumental in reviving the Athletic Banquet.  He also was the staff advisor who started the Carman Collegiate Youth in Philanthropy.

All the best to our departing staff members in their future endeavors.
