Carman Collegiate grade 11 & 12 students experienced an exceptional post-secondary opportunity attending the annual Information Days held at the University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg and Red River College. On February 17 interested students attend the Red River College and University of Winnipeg. At Red River College students participated in presentations, information sessions, and received information at the Info Booths about the programs offered at RRC. Students highlighted their experience which included an excellent tour of the Culinary Arts professional baking and patisserie and Jane’s restaurant at Paterson Global Foods Institute, Medical Sciences ultra sound and x-ray department, Trades, Creative Arts, Technology, Engineering and Residence tour.
At the University of Winnipeg Info Days students attended an information fair to include all faculties and representatives from each of the faculties, providing the students facts directly from professors, and teachers. Students had the opportunity to attend mini-lectures on the following topics, Admissions, Business and Administration, Chemistry, Psychology, Conflict Resolution Studies, and Urban and Inner-City Studies. Presentations on Admissions and Financial Aid, Faculty of Business and Economics, Faculty of Education, Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Kinesiology, Faculty of Science, and Chemistry. Students participated in campus tours of the Science Complex and Buhler Centre, Great West United Health & Rec-plex with indoor artificial turf field and rubberized sprint track.
On February 19, grade 11 & 12 students attended the University of Manitoba Info Days, which included presentations, min-lectures, as well as faculty and campus tours. The Information Village provided the opportunity for students to meet directly with professors, teachers and representative for each Faculty. Presentations and 45- minute tours of faculties were available throughout the day allowing students to experience the entire campus with an excellent learning about the vast post-secondary opportunities. Experiences that were highlighted by students included the Chemistry Magic Show, Medical information session and the Psychology presentation.
INFO DAYS are a fantastic experience for high school students to understand the full extent of opportunities that are offered at post-secondary institutions. A Great 2 Days of Learning!
