Friday, December 20 Activity Day
A fun day for all. The entertainment assembly began with a presentation from Tom Ethans of Take Pride, Take Action to Samantha C, Brianna J, and Kylie N for their Water Stewartship video they made last year. The girls were presented with scholarships. The students then were witness to the official world premier of the new hot rock band known as the Edukators and their great rendition of Takin' Care of Christmas by Randy Bachman. We then moved into the Hypnotist show, with 7 of our 15 students having fun up on stage. Our students then headed off to Portage for the Cougar hockey game. As for the mustache contest, Rhiannon A picked the trucker for Mr. Phillips, and Amanda P picked the trucker with a soul patch for Mr. Rempel. Money raised for this shave was donated to the Cheer Board.
Theatre Donation
Cheer Board
The students were once again very busy helping with Cheer Board in our community. Our students took time to help pack hampers, wrap presents, unload turkeys and hams, and deliver hampers. Thank you to our Philanthropy students, Cougar Hockey team, Cougar Girls and Boys Basketball teams, Student Council members, and other students and staff who took part.

2000 Reasons to be Safe Grant Winners Again!
For the third year in a row, Carman Collegiate has been selected as a recipient for the 2000 Reasons to be Safe contest from Safe Work Manitoba. Our school will receive a $2000 grant to complete a project for Safe Work Manitoba.
In the past two years, we have made a 12 minute movie about safe work on a farm. Last year we made a stop motion video about the unseen hazards at restaurants for young workers.
This year, Mr. Rivest and several of our students will be creating a video game that addresses the issues that young people will face entering the workplace. Part action, part trivia, students will review and learn skills necessary to be confident entering the work force.
With the grant, the plan is to build a powerful PC so that students will be able to make our game, and to have a computer that can handle advanced projects later in following years. Work will begin early in the new year.

This Week in Review
Our Grade 7 to 12 Bands performed Wednesday night in front of a full theatre. Mr. Rivest and his bands gave a great selection of Christmas songs. We also had a new rock band group give their opening performance of the school careers. Thanks to all who attended.
Thursday night we had around 80 students dance the night away at our Christmas Dance. Thank you to student council for organizing this event.
